Welcome to my blog page.Should this be, as a woodworker, my Oh clog! page? [you may have noticed my penchant for wordplay!]

December 2009
A very quiet year - waiting for that Muse to come along....mind you , there is no classical Muse of Sculpture (nor painting, etc.), so it may be a long wait.
    •    I submitted work to the RWA Open again...but this year I wasn't selected.
    •    I've moved where I live and, because of higher rent, etc., I've missed out on getting a studio/workshop in the new BV Studios in Bedminster, Bristol. Such is life at times!

The good news is that the RWA selected all 3 of the pieces I selected! The less good news is that one of them (Perfection2) is "Selected But Not Hung" which apparently means there's not enough space for it! I'm disappointed as that's a more interesting piece. Couldn't make the Varnishing Day yesterday (a name held over from the days when artists went in to put on their final coats of varnish before the exhibition opened) and I'm working on Saturday when the Private View happens.....frustrating!

Preparing to submit three pieces to the RWA (Royal West of England Academy) 156 Autumn Exhibition. This is an open exhibition along the same lines as the Royal Academy open exhibition in London.....queue up in a long line, sculptures tucked under each arm....and hope they catch the judges' eyes [are they called judges or selectors....hmmm, should find out!!]. Preparation consists of labelling everything with the correct wording which must match the submission form, etc......all very precise and exacting.
